Joint Institute for Heavy Ion Research Facilities The Joint Institute is housed in two buildings adjacent to the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility. One of these, a dormitory/office building, offers free lodging to HRIBF users while running experiments. Rooms not occupied by current experimenters are frequently made available to other short-term JIHIR visitors. This dormitory provides lodging for about 300 guests per year with average stays of about six nights per visitor. The second facility houses offices for JIHIR visitors and employees and UNIRIB scientists and employees as well as two meeting rooms for specialized workshops and conferences. The Joint Institute for Heavy Ion Research is a joint project of The University of Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Vanderbilt University. |
